Interpreting river levels is more difficult than it should be in Quebec.
There are a limited number of primary gauges listed on the CEHQ website, the second link in the list to the right.
Rather than relating river flows to these primary river levels, each of the other sites in the list on the right try and estimate river flows as fractions or multiples of the primary gauges. The estimations are not the same between the sites so they display different values for the same flow. It is not a good system.
We do our best to keep our flow recommendations in line with these river level webpages, just be aware of the variability that exists because of this weird system.
